Enter the Julian date(numerical day of the year) of the inventory and thenotation “INV” in the DATE & SER/WCC column,and enter the inventory quantity in the ON-HANDcolumn. The inventory quantity and the on-handnumber should match. See figure 13-7. If differencesexist in the on-hand quantity, locations, or other stockrecord data, reconcile such differences using theprocedures outlined in NAVSUP P-485.STOCK RECORD CARDSLEARNING OBJECTIVE: Recall how toprepare and post stock record cards.Without stock record cards, it would be impossibleto know if there were adequate stocks of materialnecessary for the operation of the medical departmentof a ship. Procurement of stock must be based on theinformation contained on the stock record cards. Useof approved computer programs are encouraged.Manual stock record cards are discussed in theparagraphs that follow.The two stock record cards most commonly usedin recording usage data are the Stock Record Card,Afloat, NAVSUP 1114, and the Stock Record Card.These cards are maintained stock records for all itemsof stocked material.DESCRIPTION OF NAVSUP 1114The pre-printed captions appearing on the top lineand at the bottom of the NAVSUP 1114 are identical toeach other, and most of the captions are familiar andself-explanatory. Additional information on some ofthe top- and second-line data elements may help youunderstand the captions, as well as the source and useof the data shown.Material Control Code (MCC)The material control code (MCC) is a singlealphabetic character assigned by the inventory controlmanager to segregate items into more manageablegrouping of fast-, medium-, or slow-moving items, orto relate to field activities special reporting and controlrequirements.
